Virtual avatars, robots and Artificial Emotional Intelligence are changing our view of the body and embodiment. Therefore, the conference explores the meaning of the corporeal in relation to AI and robotics through current questions on anthropology, transhumanism, queer AI and sexuality, among others. The topics lie at the intersection of philosophy, theology, ethics, psychology, natural and technical sciences.
The main language will be English.
Virtuelle Avatare, Roboter und Künstliche Emotionale Intelligenz verändern unsere Sicht auf Körper und Verkörperung. Die Tagung untersucht daher die Bedeutung des Leiblichen bezüglich KI und Robotik anhand aktueller Fragen u. a. zur Anthropologie, zum Transhumanismus, zu queerer KI und Sexualität. Die Themen liegen in der Schnittmenge von Philosophie, Theologie, Ethik, Psychologie, Natur- und Technikwissenschaften.

How to get there: From the main railway station in approx. 11 minutes by tram lines 1, 3 and 5 or in approx. 20 minutes on foot.
The Burkardushaus is the conference centre of the Domschule, an institution of the Diocese of Würzburg. The Domschule is a place where church and the public meet to enter into dialogue. The house is located in the heart of Würzburg, in the immediate vicinity of the cathedral. From here, many sights such as the Residenz (World Heritage Site), the Main promenade, the Marienberg Fortress or the Juliusspital are within walking distance – perhaps a good option after a sample of the excellent regional wine.

Anreise: Vom Hauptbahnhof in ca. 11 Minuten mit den Straßenbahnlinien 1, 3 und 5 oder in ca. 20 Minuten zu Fuß.
Das Burkardushaus ist das Tagungshaus der Domschule, einer Einrichtung des Bistums Würzburg. Die Domschule ist ein Ort, an dem sich Kirche und Gesellschaft begegnen, um in den Dialog zu treten. Das Haus liegt mitten im Herzen von Würzburg, in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Dom. Von hier aus sind viele Sehenswürdigkeiten wie die Residenz (Weltkulturerbe), die Mainpromenade, die Festung Marienberg oder das Juliusspital fußläufig erreichbar – nach einer Probe des exzellenten regionalen Weins vielleicht eine gute Option.
